1. Cheong SH, Lim JY, Kim SY, Choi YW, Choi HY, Myung KB: A case of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma associated with verrucous hemangioma. Ann Dermatol; 2009 Aug;21(3):304-7

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] A case of eccrine angiomatous hamartoma associated with verrucous hemangioma.
  • Eccrine angiomatous hamartomas are benign vascular and eccrine malformations often accompanied by hyperhidrosis or pain, increased eccrine glands, and aggregates of vessels.
  • Histologically, there were verrucous changes in the epidermis, numerous dilated capillaries in the papillary dermis, and increased eccrine glands with angiomatous foci in the deep dermis.
  • The epithelial cells of the eccrine glands were positive for CEA, and the endothelial cells were positive for CD31 and GLUT-1.
  • Eccrine angiomatous hamartomas have been reported in conjunction with other vascular tumors in only a few instances.
  • We report an interesting case of an eccrine angiomatous hamartoma associated with a verrucous hemangioma.

  • [Title] Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma with features resembling verrucous hemangioma.
  • Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a benign malformation characterized by a proliferation of eccrine glands and capillary vessels in the dermis.
  • Histologically, there was a nodular proliferation of eccrine glands intimately admixed with numerous small vessels in the dermis.
  • The vessels were negative for glucose transporter-1 protein (GLUT-1), supporting the impression of hamartoma over that of hemangioma.
  • The findings are unusual and expand the histological spectrum of this hamartoma.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] Late-onset eccrine angiomatous hamartoma on the forehead.
  • Histopathologic examination of the lesion showed increased numbers of eccrine glands, as well as dilated vascular channels in the deep dermis and subcutaneous tissue (Fig. 2).
  • An immunohistochemical study showed that these eccrine glands stained positively for S-100 and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and the vascular channels for the antifactor VIII-related antigens.
  • These findings are consistent with eccrine angiomatous hamartoma.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] A unique presentation of eccrine hamartoma: eccrine nevus with abnormal eccrine structures and angiomyxoid stroma.
  • Eccrine hamartomas are very rare lesions usually presenting in early childhood, with variable clinical presentations.
  • These lesions are all characterized by an increase in number and/or size of normal eccrine glands.
  • We report the case of a hamartomatous lesion composed of eccrine structures and prominent angiomyxoid stroma, diagnosed in a 9-year-old girl.
  • In this lesion, eccrine structures were not normal eccrine coils or ducts but ramified strands of small eosinophilic cells, containing a few eccrine ducts.
  • These epithelial structures expressed carcinoembryonic antigen, cytokeratin 14, and cytokeratin 77, in a pattern suggesting ductal eccrine differentiation.
  • This angiomyxoid stroma was somewhat reminiscent of mucinous eccrine nevi and eccrine angiomatous hamartomas.
  • We propose to describe this unique lesion inside the group of eccrine nevi with the term "angiomyxoid eccrine nevus. "
