  • [Title] Malignant adenomyoepithelioma of the breast--case report.
  • Malignant adenomyoepithelioma (MAME) of the breast is a rare tumor characterized on the basis of histologic, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural features by malignant proliferation of the epithelial and myoepithelial cells.
  • We report a case of an 80-year-old woman with malignant adenomyoepithelioma of the breast, one of the oldest patients described up to today.
  • The tumor was associated with adenosis and in adjacent positions to the infiltrating portions a circumscribed nodule with histological features of benign adenomyoepithelioma was present.

  • [Title] Intracystic adenomyoepithelioma of the breast--case report and review.
  • A case of an intracystic adenomyoepithelioma of the breast mimicking intracystic carcinoma is described.
  • Histopathologic and immunohistochemical examination revealed an intracystic adenomyoepithelioma without nodal involvement.
  • Indeed, adenomyoepithelioma has metastatic potential; however, lymphatic spread is rare and axillary intervention may be over-treatment for most cases.
  • While the imaging descriptions of intracystic adenomyoepitheliomas are very limited, this tumor should be considered in the differential diagnosis to avoid unnecessarily aggressive treatment.

  • The histopathologic features resembled those of adenomyoepithelioma, an uncommon neoplasm usually encountered within the breast.
  • Primary cutaneous adenomyoepithelioma is very rare yet shares histopathologic features with common cutaneous lesions such as spiradenomas and benign mixed tumors (chondroid syringomas).
  • Primary cutaneous adenomyoepithelioma is part of the spectrum of epithelial-myoepithelial tumors that includes benign mixed tumor, myoepithelioma and myoepithelial carcinoma.
  • Like its breast counterpart, primary cutaneous adenomyoepithelioma should probably be regarded as a neoplasm of borderline malignant potential.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] Coexistent adenomyoepithelioma and invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast: presentation as separate tumors.
  • Adenomyoepitheliomas are rare breast tumors.
  • We report an unusual case of adenomyoepithelioma associated with invasive ductal carcinoma here.
  • The other tumor corresponded to adenomyoepithelioma consisting of an inner layer of neoplastic cells with basophilic cytoplasm and the outer layer of neoplastic cells with clear cytoplasm.
  • Immunohistochemically, some myofibroblasts were observed in the stroma of both adenomyoepithelioma and invasive ductal carcinoma, but no CD34-positive stromal cells were seen in the stroma of either lesion.
  • The stromal reaction of adenomyoepithelioma resembles that of intraductal papilloma in the previous study.
  • To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of coexistent adenomyoepithelioma and invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast that were discovered as separate nodules.
  • Clinicians and pathologists should be aware of such an association because they need to distinguish such a case from malignant neoplasms arising in adenomyoepithelioma.
  • Additionally, our preliminary report suggests that the stromal response of adenomyoepithelioma may resemble that of intraductal papilloma.
