  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] A Case of Burkitt's Lymphoma Involving Both Breasts.
  • Primary malignant lymphoma of the breast is rare, and Burkitt's lymphoma is especially rare.
  • We report the case of a 44-year-old woman in whom Burkitt's lymphoma involving both breasts was diagnosed.
  • The patient was referred to our hospital because of a diffuse, firm swelling, like a bulky ball, in both breasts.
  • Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of both breast masses revealed malignant lymphoma(ML), and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma was diagnosed based on the results of immunohistochemical studies of a core needle biopsy specimen.
  • We then resected the mass in the left breast, and when examination of the surgical specimen revealed relapse of ML and t (8;11) (q24;q32) translocation, Burkitt's lymphoma was diagnosed.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] Malignant lymphoma arising from heterotopic Warthin's tumor in the neck: case report and review of the literature.
  • Here we present a rare case of malignant lymphoma arising from heterotopic (ectopic) WT.
  • The histological diagnosis was malignant lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell type, arising from heterotopic WT.
  • Postoperative staging examination including chest radiography, bone scan, and computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis revealed no evidence of dissemination of malignant lymphoma.
  • Malignant transformation within WT is rarer in the lymphoid component than in the epithelial component.
  • Only 16 cases of malignant transformation arising from WT have been reported, including only three cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma apparently arising from heterotopic WT.
  • Tumor removal or careful follow up is recommended in patients with WT because of the potential risk posed by such malignant transformation.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] Successful treatment of a primary gastric T-cell lymphoma lacking the human T-cell leukemia virus type 1.
  • The present study is a report of a rare case of primary gastric T-cell lymphoma without HTLV-1 which could be successfully treated with surgical resection and adjuvant chemotherapy.
  • Radiographic and endoscopic examinations revealed an ill-demarcated ulcerative lesion in the stomach, and a biopsy specimen confirmed high-grade lymphoma.
  • Histological examination of the gastric lesion revealed a malignant lymphoma, diffuse large cell type, with lymph nodal involvement.
  • Review of previously reported cases of primary gastric T-cell lymphoma indicates that the prognosis is better without than with HTLV-1.
  • We conclude that primary gastric T-cell lymphomas without HTLV-1 should be managed in the same way as the more common diffuse large B-cell type gastric lymphomas.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • [Title] [A case of primary pulmonary malignant lymphoma associated with autoimmune hemolytic anemia].
  • The pathological examination of a percutaneous biopsy specimen revealed B-cell malignant lymphoma of the diffuse large-cell type.
  • Gallium scintigraphy showed positive accumulation only in the lungs, and thus a diagnosis of primary pulmonary lymphoma was made.
  • Primary pulmonary malignant lymphoma associated with autoimmune hemolytic anemia is extremely rare.
  • Although the underlying mechanism remains to be clarified, it is likely that Epskin-Barr virus infection leads to the development of malignant lymphomas in some cases.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • Anti-disialosyl immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody was detected in the course of malignant lymphoma of diffuse large B-cell type, which usually spares the motor system.
  • Autopsy showed no lymphoma cells infiltrating the nervous system.
  • This autopsy report provides further definition of a neuropathy associated with malignant lymphoma and IgM antibodies against disialosyl residues.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • BACKGROUND: The incidence of bone marrow (BM) metastasis might be related with the occurrence of malignant tumors in ethnic groups.
  • METHODS: This study included 932 cases of primary malignant tumor which were requested for BM study from January 1995 to June 2006 in Chonnam National University Hospital and Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital.
  • Primary tumors with BM involvement in children comprised neuroblastoma (74.1%), rhabdomyosarcoma (7.4%), and malignant lymphoma (7.4%).
  • For adult patients, they consisted of malignant lymphoma (56.0%), gastrointestinal cancer (20.2%), and lung cancer (6.0%).
  • In the case of malignant lymphoma, diffuse large cell lymphoma was the most frequent one.

  • [Source] The source of this record is MEDLINE®, a database of the U.S. National Library of Medicine.
  • RESULTS: Six patients had a history of malignant lymphoma (diffuse large B-cell lymphoma [DLBCL] = 4, marginal zone B-cell lymphoma = 2), and two had acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
  • There was no development of B-cell lymphoma or recurrence of B-cell lymphoma in any of the three lesions demonstrating IgH rearrangement.
